How to get to Ranong from Bangkok
Car
Ranong can be reached from Bangkok by taking Highway No. 4 via Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and next city is Ranong. The first city of Adaman sea.
Bus
The journey takes about 9 hours. Tickets can be purchased at the Southern Bus terminal .There are several bus options you can take from Bangkok to Ranong. All of them are air conditioned.
1. Privately run bus companies:
New Mit Tour: Tel 02-281-6939 , 02-281-6949. New Mit Tour office is opposite with Borwornrachaniwet Temple near Kaw San Road.
2. VIP government run bus. Ticket start from 480 Bahts. Visit www.transport.co.th for more information.
3. Second class air conditioned bus. Tickets cost 333 Bahts and they do not accept reservations (first come first serve). These leave Bangkok at 7.10 am., 8.40 am, 10.30 am, 1.40 pm, 3.30 pm, 5.30 pm, 6.50 pm, 8.50 pm, and 9.45 pm.
You can also take the second class bus to Phuket and before you actually get to Phuket, get off at Ranong. These leave at 4 pm, 5 pm, and 10.30 pm.
Train
Take the train to Chumpon and take a minibus to Ranong (approximately 2 hour ride). The minibus leaves Chumpon every hour and costs 120 Bahts. First trip is 6 am., the last trip is 5 pm.
Air
Air line change with season. Other choice is take flight to Suratthani city. Then take taxi to Ranong city. It’s 3 hrs by car from Suratthani city to Ranong city
From Ranong pier to Ko Phayam
1. Normal boat : it's a 2 hours boat ride in a 100 seats transport boat.
The boat schedules are:
Ranong to Ko Phayam at 9.30 am. and 2 pm
Ko Phayam to Ranong at 8.30 am and 2 pm
The boat ride costs 150 Bahts ( 4 uro).
2. Speed boat : it's 45 minutes for boat ride to Ko Phayam.
The boat schedule are :
Ranong to Ko Phayam at 10 a.m. , 11.30 a.m. 2.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.
Ko Phayam to Ranong at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.
The boat ride costs 350 Bahts ( 9 uro ).
Once you arrive on Ko Phayam, it's a short motorcycle ride to Hornbill Hut which costs 60-70 Bahts (2 uro)
